Keep New Years Resolutions

What Keeps You From Keeping New Years’ Resolutions?

Resolutions - Divine Mind InstituteIt’s the first of a New Year, have you made your New Years’ Resolutions?

According to a survey by Franklin Covey, only about 23% of those who make New Years’ resolutions will actually keep them.

Most of us give up way before we even get a good start…usually before the end of January.

It’s tradition at the beginning of the New Year to set new goals for ourselves. Why? Partly because it’s tradition, but mostly because most of us really do want to improve ourselves. We want to:

  • Lose weight
  • Stop smoking
  • Be more patient
  • Be more motivated
  • Be better at our jobs
  • Eat healthier
  • Exercise more
  • Stop unwanted habits

So, if our desire is to improve ourselves…

Why are New Years’ Resolutions so hard to keep?

Often times you make goals without thinking them through, they are overwhelming or maybe they just aren’t the right goals for you. When resolutions are broken, you can begin to feel like a failure, which affects your self-esteem and you begin to lose faith in yourself.

First of all, let me just say, it can be hard to make lasting change. You want to, you know you should, but you forget or you are unaware that something internal can be holding you back and is beyond your conscious control…it is your subconscious mind, which is in total control all of your behaviors.

Hypnosis and Low Self Esteem

Can Hypnosis Help Low Self Esteem?

Low Self Esteem - Divine Mind InstituteWhat’s wrong with me?

I can’t do anything right!

Why can’t I be like…?

Do you find yourself asking these questions? Or maybe you’re aware that one of your children or another loved one is pretty “hard” on themselves.

As a rule, you are your own worst critic, but when your “inner critic” is too harsh too often, you can end up underachieving, lonely and isolated, your health can suffer and the feeling of hopelessness can take over. You have low self esteem when:

  • Your good points are overlooked
  • You can’t put past mistakes in the past
  • You are unable to handle criticism
  • You are afraid to try new things socially, academically or career-wise
  • To sum it up, your quality of life is negatively affected

Your self esteem – your opinion of yourself and who you are – plays an extremely important part in how you live your life.

What causes low self esteem?

Bullying Promotes Low Self Esteem - Divine Mind InstituteOften it appears in children or adults who grew up in dysfunctional family situations where they may have been abused or neglected. Or maybe they were bullied or picked on in school. It could also be attributed to a non-abusive parent who has low self esteem themselves, and as we all know, children pick up the characteristics and traits of their parents.

But all low self esteem doesn’t come from childhood. Many adults can be faced with traumatic experiences that can cause negative feelings about yourself. They could be caused by:

  • Career problems
  • Financial problems
  • Failed relationships

Facing these types of  life challenges causes us all to take a good hard look at ourselves, and that’s all right. But if too much time is spent dwelling on or obsessing over them, self-confidence begins to suffer and self esteem is lost.

How can Hypnotherapy help?

We are all different, which means the reasons for low self esteem and the approach  to building self esteem is different for everyone. That is why hypnotherapy is a great approach. Each person is assessed individually to connect with who you really are, to develop a greater sense of self, and build greater belief in yourself. It can help you see yourself through different eyes.

Hypnosis is a way of re-educating your subconscious mind so you will be more in control of your life.

Isn’t it time to start your journey to a positive self image and move past the negative?

Age Regression

What is Age Regression Therapy?

Age Regression Therapy - Divine Mind InstituteIn the world of Hypnotherapy, age regression therapy is a very direct and effective tool that is used to help access memories, feelings and thoughts from your childhood. These memories, thoughts and feelings are stored in your sub-conscious mind and are unconsciously carried forward from earlier times in our lives and can negatively impact our present life.

They are often the keys that unlock the source of unwanted behaviors.

Age regression therapy, though not a time machine, can help reveal sources of behaviors that are rooted in your past such as:

  • Overeating
  • Fears and Phobias
  • Smoking
  • PTSD and other stresses
  • Poor relationships
  • Anxieties
  • Depression
  • Bad habits
  • Insomnia
  • Hypochondria
  • Anger Issues

The Goal of Age Regression

The goal of age regression is to recall the details of the event that has created a sub-conscious “trigger”  resulting in a conscious behavior.

You enter age regression through hypnosis in an attempt to deal with unresolved issues from your past…issues that have had a negative effect on your current life. As you are guided back to an earlier time, these buried events and memories are brought to the surface, and recovery can commence:

  • Age Regression Key - Divine Mind InstituteThe event may be viewed as if from a distance
  • You will be able to reprocess your experience
  • Deal with your memories objectively
  • You can gain a better understanding of the events and people of your experience
  • Past Emotional scarring can be released
  • You can move from a negative past into a positive present and future

Because it is a very personal, intimate and sometimes intense type of therapy, it is extremely important that you have a good and trusting relationship with your hypnotherapist.

Start your journey to achieving postive things in your life as you move past the negative…

Insomnia

Could Hypnotherapy Help Your Insomnia?

Counting Sheep for Insomnia - Divine Mind InstituteHave you tried counting sheep, reading or watching television trying to drift off to sleep? Do any of those things work? Do you go to sleep only to wake up a few hours later and find you are unable to go back to sleep? Do you often awaken in the morning still feeling overly tired?

Everyone spends a restless or sleepless night sometime or another, but when it is a nightly occurrence, it can become a problem for you.

These are possible signs of insomnia, which is the inability to fall asleep or remain asleep in order to get enough rest and wake up feeling refreshed in the morning.

Insomnia is not respecter of persons or age, and can be long or short termed.

Insomnia changes your life. People who suffer from insomnia are often:

  • Fatigued
  • Irritable
  • Have memory loss or problems concentrating
  • Feel depressed
  • Are more prone to accidents
  • Have an increased risk of heart disease
  • Develop Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS)
  • Develop sleep apnea

Although for those who don’t experience insomnia, it may not sound like a serious condition, but its side effects can be very serious.

Two Types of Insomnia

  • Hypnosis for Insomnia - Divine Mind InstitutePrimary Insomnia does not occur as a result of other medical issues you might be experiencing, although it may be triggered by events in your life such as stress or change.
  •  Secondary Insomnia is typically a side effect of some underlying problem:
    • Health conditions
    • Pain
    • Arthritis
    • Cancer
    • Depression
    • Heartburn
    • Medication
    • Anxiety
    • Tobacco, Caffeine or Alcohol

Many people, as they try to cope with their inability to get quality restful sleep, will often begin worrying about not sleeping or doing things like trying to go to bed too early, or even turn to medication. Medications must be taken at the appropriate time before going to bed, and may often leave you feeling  unrefreshed and groggy in the morning. Depending on medication becomes an expensive and undesirable crutch.

Hypnotherapy is a safe and effective way that will help you address any issues that may be causing your insomnia as it helps you understand and focus on thoughts that can help change past learned behaviors.

Hypnosis combined with NLP are powerful tools that have been recognized as being very effective in changing habits, they can help you break the cycle of sleepless nights and get the sleep you need and want.

Independent or Codependent

Are You Independent or Codependent?

Independent or Codependent - Divine Mind InstituteBeginning in our early childhood, most of us sought to be independent…as our parents can attest when we said “I can do it myself!”

According to Dictionary.com, being independent means we don’t rely on others, we think and act for ourselves.

Of course we realize that in reality, being independent is having good self esteem, being capable and acting upon it. We also realize that none of us are ever totally independent, we need other people around us for many reasons.

Co-dependency

On the other hand, the codependent person is someone who has low self-esteem and is typically passive. They usually have a need to care for someone else, but neglect their own needs in the process.

The codependent person

  • Is an enabler who feels the need to rescue someone while covering up that person’s behavior.
  • Feels they never do enough for others, which leads to feelings of guilt.
  • Has possibly been mentally, physically or verbally abused by either a parent, a partner or a spouse,
  • Cannot refuse someone else’s plea for help, but has difficulty asking for it themselves.
  • Goes to great lengths to avoid confrontation and arguments to maintain peace, they don’t like to “rock the boat”.
  • Resists change
  • Codependent Worrier - Divine Mind InstituteWorries too much about what other people may think of them (low self esteem)
  • Is a “pleaser”, always wanting everyone to always be happy.
  • Feels inadequate and when they make a mistake they feel badly about themselves.

Where Co-dependence Began

We all started out with a desire to be independent as we tried to show the world we were getting big enough to do things ourselves, but somewhere along the line, usually during childhood, this unhealthy behavior began.

Because you want to correct this negative behavior, it’s important to understand why it started in the first place, something you may have no idea about. This is where hypnotherapy can help you. It is the perfect tool, that communicates with your subconscious, where all your memories are stored, which can help you uncover what in your past triggers this negative behavior.

Hypnosis can also help you begin to love yourself, which will enable you to understand and respect your own needs and begin to take care of yourself. It will help you build your self esteem, giving you the power of assertiveness, interacting with other people in a much healthier way. Although the cycle of abuse may have physically stopped, it still goes on in your head…this can stop!

In short, hypnotherapy will help you take back your life so you can enjoy it!

What is My Potential

What is My Potential, and How Can I Reach It?

What is Your Potential - Divine Mind Institute“What do you want to be when you grow up?” This is a question that is asked of every young child at one time or another.

Their response is usually quite grand…”A fireman, a movie star, a scientist, an astronaut or maybe President of the United States.”

All these things are achievable, but most kids don’t usually become what they said they wanted to because as they grow and mature, new ideas and thoughts come into their minds…it’s a natural process.

But what about you?

Are you happy with what you’ve become now that you’re grown up? Have you achieved all you thought you could or would? Have you developed the talents and skills you dreamed you would?

True, we can’t all be President of the United States, but we can feel satisfaction in who we have become and what we have achieved, with the knowledge that we’re still trying to be better.

Anger Problems

Do You Have Anger Problems?

Anger Problems - Divine Mind InstituteBeing angry is a natural, healthy emotion we all experience it at one time or another. In fact, it is a necessary emotion for self preservation.

It’s when your anger takes over and you lose control, that’s when it becomes a problem. That’s when your anger is in control of you.

Anger manifests in different degrees, from very mild and irritated to extreme rage…which is when it becomes a very destructive issue leading to emotional, physical and mental problems.

The Effect of Anger Problems

When out of control, your anger issues can prevent you from living an enjoyable life, they can affect your:

  • Health – mental and physical
    • People who have excess anger have actually been known to be at higher risk of heart disease.
  • Relationships – professional and personal
  • Work performance

Anger can cause:

  • Stress
  • Elevated heart rate
  • Sleeplessness

Controlling your Anger

Anger is an emotion that can be hard to control, and you can be angry at things, people or situations. It can be dealt with in different ways; you can try calming exercises, you can try expressing your anger to the offender or you can try to suppress it and keep it bottled inside.

Bottled Up Anger - Divine Mind InstituteKeeping your anger bottled up is not a good option, because you are not letting go of the feelings, and they won’t just go away.

If you have ever been around a person who is extremely angry, someone who seems out of control, you have probably thought to yourself…”relax, just let it go”. Which is exactly what they can’t do. They can’t release the anger.

That is where hypnotherapy can be a great tool, it can help you let go of your anger. Hypnosis helps the mind and body to totally relax and communicate with your subconscious mind. It is then that you may discover why you react to things the way you do, and retrain the way you think to be able to deal with people and situations in a calmer and more acceptable way.

Take back control of your life – let go of your anger – lead a happier life
